The Aquilla business was originally formed by an expert team of property insurance specialists who had already successfully worked together for some 13 years. When creating Aquilla, the core idea was to fundamentally improve on an already winning formula with the added bonus of offering a property ownership focused insurance business.
At Aquilla we continue to place a strong emphasis on quality, achieved through a team of experienced and driven insurance professionals who possess a wealth of knowledge in the Property Owners' market.
As a result of our unwavering focus on this sector, Aquilla has developed a specialised understanding of the property industry that few can match. Putting the customer first with professionalism, honesty, and integrity has always been at the heart of everything Aquilla does and remains a fundamental principle.

Part of the Alan & Thomas group since 2021
At the end of 2021, Aquilla became part of Alan & Thomas Insurance Group (A&T), which currently arranges and manages £60 million of customer’s premiums every year. Aquilla and A&T were a perfect marriage because the businesses had both been built on the simple principle of doing the right things for customers.
Alan & Thomas' national scale allows us to leverage the very best from our valued suppliers for our clients. Where Aquilla specialise in Property Insurance, A&T adds to the complete proposition by delivering insurance and risk management solutions for businesses, organisations, charities and private clients. Together, the Aquilla and A&T teams have successfully arranged complete programmes for customers that encompass the property insurance risks alongside wider commercial risks and personal insurance too.
Whilst the A&T Group continues to grow the business organically each year, we are also looking to build upon our past success by making further selected acquisition investments along the way.
A&T have a strong track record of delivering flexible deal frameworks to enable growth and maximising value for all stakeholders in the process. Of course, there are a whole host of considerations in addition to the valuation of a business and the A&T acquisition strategy will help to create an even stronger environment for all teammates and clients as well as building upon the legacies crafted over time by current owners and shareholders.

Our Directors
Natasha Ward | Director
Natasha started her career in 1992 joining a West End broker which was acquired by the Heath Lambert Group.
Natasha worked at Heath’s for six years as a specialist property broker, predominantly responsible for dealing with the Group’s largest client.
In 1998, Natasha joined Layton Blackham’s Property Division and was responsible for the management of one of the servicing teams.
Natasha left Layton Blackham in 2008 and was instrumental in the setting up of Aquilla. Natasha has been a Broking Director within Aquilla ever since and has been instrumental in fuelling the growth of the business which includes arranging the insurance for and managing the ongoing servicing of A&T Group’s largest property client with over £3 billion of assets insured. Since joining A&T in 2021, Natasha has been a core member of the group's management team helping steer decision-making and growth.
Natasha has a passion for all sports and is a Spurs fan. Natasha is also a very accomplished cook.
Claire Clarke | Director
Claire started her insurance career at Legal & General in 1985. Claire then joined the insurance department of Edward Erdman in 1989, and has since specialised in the Property Owners’ insurance market.
In 1995, Claire was one of the first employees at the then newly formed Layton Blackham’s Property Owners Division. Claire joined Aquilla in 2009 as a Broking Director and has helped the business go from strength to strength ever since. When Aquilla became part of A&T in 2021, Claire also joined the wider management team, adding valuable insight and contributions to helping the business achieve it's objectives.
Claire’s interests include fitness, exercise and rugby union.
Jonny Muncer | Managing Director
Jonny has been part of A&T since 2015, holding various positions within the business until most recently being appointed Managing Director of Alan & Thomas Insurance Group at the start of 2023. Jonny remains an Account Director on some large commercial cases for A&T but his experience also includes private client insurance, medical insurance and employee benefits.
Jonny has worked directly with Natasha, Claire, and the Aquilla team since the end of 2021 who now form an integral part of the A&T Insurance Group.
While Jonny may no longer don a jersey, he still loves to watch rugby on a regular basis along with getting out on the golf course and heading down to Cornwall as often as possible!
